Posts that Attract Massive Comments and Turn into Phenomenal Sales

Marti lives in a small town in Oregon. When I met her, she was active on Facebook and had a great friend base. She was using both unique images and creating videos to share with her customers. She posted in parties, in her VIP group, and on her personal profile. She was feeling fairly successful with her sales numbers and was ready to take her business to the next level.

I suggested that every time she posted information or shared a video, she should routinely pose a question at the end. She was willing to try this new approach.

Marti’s posts averaged 1 to 3 comments per post. One day she was doing a video on lip products and decided to add the question: “On a scale of 1-10, 1 being ‘never’ and 10 being ‘always,’ how often do you apply lip products before leaving the house?”

She received over 15 comments! Five times the number of comments she usually got!

She instantly knew that the ones who answered with an 8, 9, or 10 would be most open to her products. With this information, she started conversations about lip products. Many of those conversations turned into sales.

How Marti Dramatically Increased her Sales
In a private message prompted by their comment, she asked them about other makeup products that they used. “What do you wear on your eyes and your skin? How do you remove your makeup at night?”

She went from selling one or two products to a handful of people to selling collections and kits to many customers. Her sales grew 225%, going from $2,000 to $6,500 in one month by using this process. Plus, she signed up several new recruits!

Take your Business to the Next Level
I bet you’re thinking, “I want some of that in my business!” The following tips will help get you started. I’ve also included examples that will work with a variety of products:

The Key to Success
The key is to post questions that are open-ended versus questions that are answered with “yes” or “no.” Another important tip is to ask questions that can be answered quickly and easily.

It’s always good to start with ‘getting to know you’ questions: “What state are you from?” “How many children do you have?” From there you can move into product-based questions.

Health and Wellness Products
Health and wellness products need to focus on your potential customer’s needs and health goals. Ask: “What keeps you from working out or having an exercise routine?” “If you could accomplish one health goal in the next 30 days, what would it be?” “What time of the day does your energy tend to crash, and what do you use for a pick-me-up?”

Food and Kitchen Products
Everyone needs food and kitchen products. Your first task is to find out about your client’s cooking goals and habits. “What is your favorite food to cook or bake?” “How many nights a week do you eat dinner as a family?” “Ideally, how many nights a week would you like to have family dinners?” “What part of cooking do you most enjoy?”

Makeup and Skin Care Products
Makeup and skin care is big business, and there are a lot of competitors selling beauty products. The more you understand the needs of each individual, the more likely you are to get their business. “What are the three items you tend to replace most often from your makeup bag?” “What about your skin do you hope to improve when using skin care products?” “On a scale of 1-10, 10 being ‘always’ and 1 ‘never,’ how often do you leave the house with lipstick applied?”

Accessories and Bags
Accessories and Bags are some of the most fun parties, in person and online, because it’s a wonderful opportunity to be a girl again and play dress up. Make it fun. Find out what makes your ladies feel pretty, what colors they lean to, and what pieces and styles they need to add to their personal collections. “What color of metal do you most often wear? Silver, Gold, Pewter?” “What color do you wear that gets you the most compliments?” “It’s Friday night. Your husband calls and wants to take you out to dinner. What jewelry do you put on for an evening out?” “What Christmas events will you be attending?”
